Meet Coach Chris

Head coach at Velocity weightlifting and competitive weightlifter.

I'd always fancied getting into olympic weightlifting.  Id already shed 5 stones of excess weight, stopped smoking and adopted a healthy lifestyle.  I spent my weekends and holidays running in the UK fells but it was hard to find the time with work and family and I still wanted to lift.

I struggled to find a qualified coach in my area and found the best way to get a taster of it was through Crossfit.  Luckily I met my coach soon after and have never looked back, i mean , who wants to do burpees?.

I soon fell head over heels with my sport.  I loved that I could compete and it not be just about going big but it  required great technique and gave me plenty to sink my teeth into.

Now in my 40's, and having started off  as a master athlete (35 years and older) I have developed a keen interest in Masters lifting and the new challenges that come lifting and training with an older, possibly less mobile body.   I feel the benefits of Olympic lifting are endless and no one should be put off by their age.

Check out my 3 day, 4 day and 5 day a week programming ( based over 4 weeks)  Bespoke programming, Zoom PT and, if in the catchment area of North Yorkshire, face to face PT also available.
